The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) has awarded Katie Norris, Ozarka College director of public relations and marketing, the Rising Star Award.

I am extremely honored to receive this award for our district and thank you to Dr. Josh Wilson, Ozarka College Vice President of Advancement, for his nomination. " said Norris. "It is a privilege to work in this field that I am passionate about and I especially appreciate the support of my husband, Zeb Norris, and my advancement team at Ozarka; without their support none of this would be possible. Promoting higher education is very rewarding and I am honored that the photographs captured received attention "

In her time in the College's public relations and marketing department, Norris has led a transition from traditional print to primarily digital advertising. Katie has revamped and increased Ozarka's social media presence by expanding platforms; utilized engaging, regular content; and initiated a geo-targeting approach to sponsored advertising. This especially increased exposure to Ozarka College's niche as well as regionally and nationally accredited programs.

"Katie continues to shine each day as she navigates a fast-paced, multi-functional role as director, " said Dr. Josh Wilson, vice president of advancement.   "In just over a year in her role, she has brought new energy, a great work ethic, and a creative style that we all appreciate. I am extremely proud of Katie; she is most-deserving of the Rising Star award. "

Katie is responsible for a dramatic increase in video content development and a revival of the Ozarka Connection newsletter. Katie is also a skilled photographer, a talent which not only serves her well in her role, but also landed her as a finalist for original photography in a recent NCMPR contest.

Katie is new marketing and communications professional, but is already making a name for herself with her colleagues at Ozarka and at NCMPR.

NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges.
