Skilled Trades Faculty

Ozarka College is announcing a search for our next Skilled Trades Faculty-HVAC and Electrical.  This individual, acting under the direction of the Division Chair of Applied Science and Technology and the college Provost, will be responsible for creating dynamic and innovative instruction of basic construction trades curriculum as part of Ozarka’s Skilled Trades program.

The ideal candidate should be able to teach in the areas of safety, basic HVAC, and basic electrical. The Skilled Trades Faculty will provide high-quality instruction and maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students that will prepare them for successful entry into the workplace. Additional responsibilities include course development, assessment, participation in campus committees and activities, student mentorship, and, of course, other duties as assigned. 

This is a nine-month position with a required teaching load of fifteen (15) credit hours per regular academic semester, and will include teaching assignments at Ozarka’s technical lab in Mountain View and Melbourne, but may include assignments at other locations as needed.

Position Specific:

  • Develop course syllabi, teaching resources, related activities and provide instruction for assigned courses.
  • Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in teaching the Skilled Trades curriculum.
  • Continually advance the quality of instruction by collaborating with local industry partners to determine pathways toward career attainment.
  • Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist and mentor students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes, and evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of course outcomes and job-ready skills.
  • Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a trades related field.
  • Ability to teach basic skills in the HVAC and electrical trades and possess a broad knowledge of technical skills and workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current licensure in HVAC and/or plumbing.
  • Previous teaching experience at the High School or College level in technical related programs.
