Director of Workforce Development

Ozarka College is seeking qualified applicants for the Director of Workforce Development position.  The Ozarka College Director of Workforce Development oversees the day-to-day communication with Ozarka’s industry partners, coordinates enrollment of both high school and traditional students in technical programs, helps the marketing department promote technical education, and will be the primary point of contact for all business and industry needs in the area. The Director fosters successful workforce training opportunities for new entrants to the workforce as well as dislocated/incumbent workers. Although primarily an advancement position, the director will work closely with the Ozarka academic and student services teams to enroll students and offer training programs. This position requires routine travel throughout the Ozarka footprint, and occasional state-wide travel. Working under the direction of the Vice President of Advancement and Workforce Development, the position is a 12-month, grant-funded position whose continuation is contingent upon accomplishment of grant-related goals and outcomes.

Position Specific:

  • Assesses needs of potential students to establish success plans reflective of identified needs.
  • Assesses student progress and implements strategies/leverages resources for participants’ successful entry, re-entry, or improved placement in the workforce.
  • Fosters positive relationships with community/industry partners to provide support for workforce entry or improvement.
  • Weekly check-ins with faculty and staff at the Carpenter Technical Center in Ash Flat and the Mountain View Technical Center.
  • Assists students with enrollment into training/education offerings, including basic skills/foundational training; Ozarka offerings and industry-related certifications (e.g., OSHA, Future Fit, and other employer-driven assessments); and work-based learning experiences.
  • Coordinate all Apprenticeship information for RAPIDS as well as training information as it is needed.
  • Work closely with the VP for Advancement and Workforce Development to ensure all HIRED Grant outcomes are met and all equipment necessary for training is in place.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with area high school partners to recruit students into work-ready training courses.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Advancement and Workforce Development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous experience working in an industry-related career field.
  • One year of experience with case management or educational service facilitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Community outreach experience.
  • Industry engagement experience.
