Foundation Receives Generous Gift

Published on September 17, 2021

The Ozarka College Foundation recently received a gift of a home from Ms. Betty Campbell of Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Campbell has been a long-time friend and supporter of the College. Her continued involvement with Ozarka and her passion for education led her to gift the home in Hardy, AR which she had owned and enjoyed for many years.

"When I first met Ms. Campbell, she was making frequent trips to her vacation home on Wahpeton Hill, " stated Dr. Richard Dawe, president of Ozarka College. "It has been an honor to get to know Betty over the years and become familiar with her love for the people of Sharp County and her passion to support Ozarka College. "

For decades, Ms. Campbell has been an ardent supporter of Ozarka College. She previously endowed two scholarships in her late husband's name, the Robert Kalischer Memorial Scholarships. A man who devoted his working life to engineering, he too, understood the immense value of an education.

"Ms. Campbell's contribution underscores her tremendous commitment and passion for helping our students, " said Garry Lawrence, Ozarka College Foundation board member and long-time friend of Ms. Campbell. "All gifts, whether they are cash or gifts of real property, directly benefit Ozarka students. Ms. Campbell's property gift will ensure scholarships for these students for perpetuity and we are grateful. "

Ms. Campbell's generosity and support for education is also shared by her children. According to Betty, they were overwhelmingly supportive of their mother's idea to gift her Hardy property for student support.

Approaching 95 years of age, Betty continues to live a vibrant life. She attributes much of her life's fulfillment to her education and the life experiences it afforded her. She is confident that by investing in education, others will be uplifted.   Because she makes fewer trips to Hardy these days, she gifted the property in hopes it would encourage others in her situation to consider a property gift to the Foundation.
