History Faculty

Ozarka College seeks applicants for a full-time Instructor of History. The position is a 9-month full time faculty appointment requiring a minimum 15 hours of instruction per semester with opportunities for additional course assignaments.   

The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of freshman and sophomore courses including, but not limited to, World Civilization I and II, American History I and II, and Arkansas History. This position will be a rotational teaching assignment at the Melbourne, Ash Flat, and Mountain View sites, as well as online courses. Other duties include: participation in departmental activities, institutional committee assignment, advising, assessment, and appropriate professional development activities relevant for the position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in History, or a related field with 18 hours of graduate levels coursework in History
  • Some formal teaching experience
  • Interest and commitment to undergraduate education
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively will college committees, campus organizations, and other educational institutions and to be involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
  • Able to design goals and assess learning outcomes
  • Experience and interest in utilizing technology for instructional delivery and online courses

 Desirable/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience teaching in Higher Education
  • Experience in developing new courses
  • Proven experience with and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of working, commuting, and other non-traditional community college students

Position Description:

  • Provide professional, high-quality educational experiences in History to Ozarka College Students
  • Effectively advise and register Ozarka College students
  • Work effectively with the Division Chair, Vice President of Academics and the Provost to develop, enhance, and promote academic programs and curriculum
  • Serve on Ozarka College committees as assigned to assist in providing programs and services
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of an Ozarka College faculty member as outlined in a timely and effective manner
  • Other duties as assigned
