Project Coordinator of the Delta Understanding and Preventing Substance and Opioid Abuse in Rurality
(Delta UPSOAR) Grant
Ozarka College, in partnership with Winrock International and the UAMS Center for Distance Health, is seeking a program coordinator for a two-year project to deliver an opioid and substance abuse training, education, and awareness program in north-central and northeast Arkansas, a region that suffers high rates of opioid overdose deaths and risk factors. The Project Coordinator of the Ozarka College Delta UPSOAR program will develop an opioid and substance abuse education curriculum and work with consortium members to deliver that curriculum to college employees and students, lay people within the service region, and others with an interest in this community service effort to reduce opioid and substance abuse fatalities and injuries.
Ozarka College will deliver multiple educational seminars across the service area, with many of those incorporating simulation trainings. Larger events will be centered on the College’s campuses with other events taking place at hospitals, businesses, churches, and libraries within the service area. In addition, some presentations will be live-streamed, and interactive online modules will be made available to the public.
The Project Coordinator will work with grant consortium members and Ozarka instructional staff to develop and deliver these meaningful educational venues. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for promoting these educational venues through various outreach efforts, such as newspapers, social media, and radio/TV service announcements. This is a grant funded position ending March 31, 2022.
