Director of Admissions and Student Engagement

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking qualified applicants for Director of Admissions and Student Engagement.  The Director reports to the Vice President of Student Services. The Director is primarily located in Melbourne on the main Ozarka College campus and plans and manages the activities related to the admissions, recruitment, and student housing processes for all Ozarka College campuses. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent Ozarka College and communicate the opportunities of higher education available at local events, workshops, high school campuses, agencies, and other outlets;
  • Guide students through the admissions process and organize campus visits for prospective students;
  • Manage student prospect database, respond to prospective student inquiries, and coordinate communications and outreach;
  • Oversee activities related to student housing, including housing application and selection, handbook and procedures, and coordination of marketing and related student activities;
  • Assist VP of Student Services in development and implementation of the Ozarka College strategic plan for recruitment;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with area high school counselors, administration, and faculty to grow the prospect/applicant pool for Ozarka admission;
  • Assist with the planning of Registration, Orientation, and other College events;
  • Oversee the Student Ambassador Program and serve as an advisor for the Student Government Association;
  • Collaborate with the Director of PR/Marketing in the development of recruitment materials;
  • Promote scholarship opportunities available to students, assist the Advancement Department with the processing of scholarship applicants, and serve on the scholarship committee;
  • Participate in appropriate professional development activities;
  • Serve on assigned committees and task forces;
  • Participate and serve as a member of the student services leadership team;
  • Travel extensively throughout the College service area;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Strong consideration for education background in the following areas: Education, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications,  Human Relations, or Business;
  • Two years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field;
  • Experience is desired in Higher Education in the area of admissions, recruiting, financial aid, scholarships and/or marketing strategies;
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written communication, and computer skills as they relate to the specific position requirements;
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning, professional development, leadership, organization, and team building;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff, high school counselors and administrators, and the community;
  • Must be energetic; a self-starter and responsible to work independently;
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout a four-county service area and beyond as necessary.
