Agriculture Preview Day at Ozarka College

Students from 11 area high schools gathered for a fun filled experience at Ozarka College on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 Ozarka hosted three hundred high school students for its first Agriculture Preview Day. Students joined in the John E. Miller auditorium for a unique look into two of Ozarka's newest programs: Agriculture and Welding Technology.  

"With Ozarka agriculture and welding programs, opportunities are endless for students in the region, " commented Dr. Casey Orr, agriculture program director.   "This is only the beginning. "

Agriculture and welding faculty presented on the academic, extracurricular, and promising job opportunities offered through Ozarka and the key benefits to pursuit in two of Arkansas' most promising industries.   In addition to two-year technical options, Ozarka offers a two-year transfer option in Agriculture.   Ozarka hosted faculty from Arkansas State University's (ASU) Agriculture program to highlight the seamless transfer opportunity for Agriculture student who begin their studies with Ozarka and transition to ASU to complete their bachelor's degree.  

"It is an exciting time at Ozarka College and the energy here today was palpable, " said Dr. Josh Wilson, vice president of student services.   "Ozarka is committed to advancing students into promising regional industries. "

The preview day ended with a BBQ lunch including a whole hog and fellowship in the Student Success Center.
