Sapp Passes Instrument Checkride at Ozarka College

Published on December 7, 2018

Simeon Sapp of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, has officially passed his Instrument Checkride, demonstrating his ability to fly an airplane by instrumentation alone! Simeon started flying because his grandfather was a pilot, and he wanted to follow his footsteps. Sapp plans to continue flying, and one day wants to become a missionary pilot. When asked about what it was like passing his checkride, Simeon said, "It took four hours and I was nervous for four hours. However, I felt very prepared by my instructor and the Ozarka Staff. I'm very thankful for all of the team's support. " His instructor, Tim Ambrose, said, "Simeon did a fantastic job studying and preparing for his checkride. He will do well through his training for his commercial rating. " Simeon will be continuing his training with Ozarka's aviation program this spring while completing his Associates of Applied Science-Commercial Pilot Degree. Simeon is the first Ozarka College aviation pilot to complete his Instrument rating.

Upon completion of Ozarka's FAA approved Part 141 flight school, students have the opportunity to complete the multi-engine commercial training at Ozarka College. For more information about flight training at Ozarka College or the aviation program, please call John Catlett, director of aviation, at 870.368.7926 or email:  flying@ozarka.edu. Discovery flights may also be scheduled with the Ozarka College aviation program.
