Ozarka College has selected Mackenzie Anderson of Timbo, Arkansas as recipient of the Academic All-Star scholarship program. Upon completion of her Associate of Arts in General Education at Ozarka, Anderson plans to attend University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in the fall of 2020.
The purpose of this program is to recognize the scholarly and service achievements of Arkansas' two-year college students. Academic All-Stars will be recognized in October at the Arkansas Community Colleges Annual Awards Brunch that takes place in Little Rock, Arkansas. Each two-year college will provide the All-Star with a $500 scholarship to complete his/her final semester at the two-year college. Traditionally, All-Star recipients also receive a full tuition scholarship from an Arkansas college or university of their choice to complete their four-year degree.
To be eligible, All-Star candidates are required to meet eligibility requirements such as being an Arkansas resident, enrolled in a public two-year college, expected to continue enrollment through at least Fall 2019, have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours toward their associate's degree and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher. Anderson, who has a 4.0 GPA, meets or exceeds all scholarship requirements. Applicants were also required to demonstrate involvement in campus and community activities. Anderson is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
"Mackenzie is a gifted scholar and exceptional student leader who takes pride in being active at the College and in her local community," said Dr. Josh Wilson, Ozarka College Vice President of Student Services. "We are very proud of Mackenzie's achievements and her commitment to serving others; and we expect only continued success as she transfers to UCA to pursue a degree in physical therapy. "
