Published on June 30, 2015

Ozarka College accepted an invitation to showcase their successes at the Higher Learning Commission's National Assessment Academy conference in St. Charles, Illinois.  On June 4, 2015, Dr. Dennis Rittle, Provost and Executive Vice President of Learning, Chris Lorch, Associate Vice President of Academics, Josh Wilson, Associate Vice President of Planning and Institutional Research, and Candace Killian, Director of Distance Learning, Advisement and Placement, showcased the College's innovative transition from a teaching college to a learning college.

During their presentation, titled Assessment and Effectiveness at Ozarka College, the presenters shared the story of the four-year journey in which the College advanced the level and quality of its assessment practices.   Reflecting on challenges as well as highlighting the College's advances, the presentation detailed how the transition has fostered cutting-edge student success techniques and best practices in measuring performance in assessment and effectiveness.

Approximately seventy-five college leaders and scholars from across the country attended the College's presentation. Among those in attendance, the senior scholar for the Assessment Academy commented on Ozarka's presentation as being one of the finest he's seen in his many years with the academy.

"Sharing the successful journey of Ozarka College with my fellow colleagues was one of the chief highlights of this year, " said Dr. Dennis Rittle. "We were overwhelmed by the heightened interest of our colleagues across the country regarding how they may replicate the work we've achieved here at Ozarka. "
