Division Chair of Applied Science and Technology

Ozarka College is seeking applications for Division Chair of Applied Science and Technology beginning with the fall 2017 semester.  The Division Chair of Applied Science and Technology, acting under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Academics, will provide leadership to all faculty with programs of study located within this Division. Programs within this division are Automotive Services, Culinary, Criminal Justice, Business, Information Science Technology, and Aviation. A Master’s Degree within one of the disciplines taught within the division is preferred, other Master’s Degrees may be considered depending on experience of the candidate. The Division Chair position is a 10-12 month position.  The projected 10-month salary is $45,000. The required teaching load will be nine (9) credit hours per fall and spring semesters.


Position Specific:


Duties listed below are to be performed during the academic year including the summer semesters:


Administration


  • Establish and maintain effective coordination of all division activities
  • Establish and maintain effective coordination and cooperation with all other divisions and departments within the College
  • Supervise recruitment and retention of faculty (full-time and adjunct) and ensure they meet HLC/NCA criteria for on and off campus classes
  • Conduct division meetings
  • Coordinate division accreditation activities
  • Coordinate student retention efforts within the division
  • Coordinate implementation of the assessment model
  • Approve and supervises student workers for the division

Planning


  • Direct and coordinate planning for the division according to the division and College strategic plan
  • Supervise and coordinate development of effective class schedules
  • Prepare and oversee the division budget and associated expenditures
  • Plan and supervise the development and distribution of division publications

Professional Development


  • Plan and coordinate professional development for division faculty
  • Participate in professional development
  • Promote teamwork within the division

Teaching


  • Teach 18 credit hours of Ozarka College coursework per academic year
  • Develop, maintain, and manage appropriate faculty assignments
  • Coordinate and supervise textbook and software adoptions

Evaluation


  • Evaluate faculty performance to include classroom and other teaching modalities
  • Evaluate staff performance (when staff is assigned to the division)

Curriculum and Program Development


  • Direct and coordinate all credit courses and degree/certificate programs in the division
  • Work with division faculty to evaluate courses and programs to ensure they meet the current skill needs of today’s workforce
  • Supervise and coordinate institutional and state mandated academic program reviews and other reports as requested
  • Recommend non-credit/continuing education courses and programs to Continuing Education
  • Coordinate development of new or expanded program offerings within the division

Resource Development


  • Assist in the development and coordination of the division advisory committees and activities, and grant proposals

Student Advisement


  • Advise students in appropriate division programs
  • Oversee advisement of students assigned to faculty members within division

Institutional and Community Service


  • Represent the division to the Instructional Council
  • Represent the division to the Curriculum Committee
  • Represent the division to the Institutional Assessment Committee and assist student achievement as outlined in the assessment plan
  • Represent Ozarka College to the community as needed

Assist the AVP of Academics in revising and updating the College catalog


Work effectively with colleagues for continued growth and quality of all campus locations


Perform other duties as assigned


College Wide:


  • Design, implement, and manage secondary partnership agreements and the activities associated with these agreements, specifically, concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, and articulated credit
  • Seek and implement activities, services and programs which assure that Ozarka College is a vibrant contributor to the quality of life of the North Central Arkansas
  • Treat all who choose to use College resources with dignity
  • Challenge all learners to maximize their potential
  • Implement systems whereby all learners are given the opportunity to accept the challenges and responsibilities for learning and growing as students and citizens
  • Promote and help develop a College environment of respect, dignity and cooperation where ideas, questioning and the continued pursuit of self-development are valued as a means toward learning and grow

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master’s degree in related field required.  Other Master’s Degrees may be considered depending on experience
  • A minimum of three but ideally five or more years teaching experience preferably in a community college setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of a computer as it relates to specific position requirements
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy
  • Demonstrated commitment to assisting students and faculty
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and team building skills
  • Demonstrated effective organization skills
