Associate of Science in Education Program Coordinator

Ozarka College seeks applicants for a full-time Associate of Science in Education Program Coordinator to begin January 2017.  The position is a 9-month full-time faculty position requiring a minimum of 15 hours of instruction per semester with opportunities for additional course assignments.


The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of freshman and sophomore courses, including, but not limited to, Introduction to Education and Introduction to K-12 Technology.  This position will include teaching assignments at the Melbourne campus as well as rotational assignments at the Ash Flat, Mountain View, and Mammoth Spring sites, as well as day, evening, and online courses.  Other duties include: participation in division activities, institutional committee assignments, advising, assessment, and appropriate professional development activities relevant to the position.


This position will also include recruiting students to the Associate of Science in Education program; maintaining contacts with cooperating public schools; serving as faculty advisor to Ozarka College students seeking the ASE; and working cooperatively with four-year institutions to complete articulation agreements to assure seamless transfer.  This position will be expected to collaborate with faculty in the development, review, assessment, and maintenance of the program.


Basic Qualifications: 


  • Master of Science in Education Degree in Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Must possess or obtain the Arkansas Department of Education elementary license within 2 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to teacher education.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Demonstrated interest/experience in utilizing technology for distance delivery.
  • An understanding of the advantages and challenges of developing a quality teacher education program in a rural community college.
  • Ability to design goals and assess learning outcomes. 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 2 years successful public school teaching experience.
  • Supervisory or administrative experience.
  • Undergraduate advising experience in a two-year college setting.
  • Successful teaching experience in a higher education setting.
