Ag Program Field Trip

Published on October 30, 2017

Ozarka College agriculture students recently enjoyed an in-class presentation and field trip with Izard County Extension Agent, Michael Paskewitz. Ozarka's Director of Agriculture, Dr. Casey Orr, and the Plant Science class visited two farms near Melbourne, Arkansas.

At the first farm, students had the opportunity to experience a firsthand look at establishing winter annuals for forage production. They practiced plant identification and learned about plant classification. At the second farm, the group visited an Extension Research Demonstration studying selective weed control with a new herbicide technology. Students got a look at plants from a commercial forage operator's perspective.

Spring registration opens soon! For more information or to enroll in Ozarka College's agriculture program, please call Ozarka Admissions at 870.368.2024 or email: admissions@ozarka.edu.
