Published on October 24, 2017

Ozarka College will offer a five-week series of continuing education Tai Chi Chih classes in Melbourne, beginning on November 7, 2017. All classes will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Course instructor, Vicki Webb stated, "Tai Chi Chih is an easy to learn, non-marital arts form of movement that promotes physical strength and balance, and at the same time enhances focus, concentration and emotional wellness. " Tai Chi Chih is also considered to be a form of moving meditation, and as such, is an excellent program for relieving stress. It is appropriate for all ages and abilities and can be easily adapted for those with physical disabilities or limitations.

While Webb is the only accredited instructor in Arkansas, the form itself is international in scope and has been used in many research studies. She explains that studies have shown tai chi chih's effectiveness in supporting general health as well as helping with arthritis, COPD, depression and anxiety, healthy aging, immune system support, pain relief, insomnia, and more. To learn more, Webb recommends visiting: www.taichichih.org.
